Mai 2008
On 26 May 2008, the IuT Group received the Energy Globe, the most important and most prestigious environmental award world-wide, for its implementation of the ADOS principle in Singapore. CEO Jörg Trübl of IuT AG Seebenstein has accepted the award jointly with Edwin Khew, CEO of IuT Global Singapore. The award was presented in a ceremony attended by prominent business and political leaders in the European Parliament in Brussels. 853 projects from 109 countries have been submitted for the awards, which were given in the categories Earth, Fire, Water, Air, and Youth.
“This is a great distinction and token of recognition for the achievements of our international group of companies, which has its origins in Austria,“ said CEO Jörg Trübl. ”The facility was designed by engineers of IuT AG Seebenstein and built in co-operation with our colleagues in Singapore. It marks another milestone in the continuing development of the IuT Group’s innovative position in climate protection and the generation of alternative energies“.
The Anaerobic Digestion Plant Singapore project submitted by the IuT Group is the most advanced digestion process for the conversion of organic waste into renewable energy.
In Tuas, Singapore, the IuT Group operates the first plant in Asia that digests organic waste while producing biogas and renewable energy. This facility is the largest of its kind in Asia, processing up to 800 tons of waste per day.
Technologically, the ADOS principle is positioned between the so-called wet and dry processes, exploiting the advantages of both while avoiding their disadvantages. The ADOS process combines high gas generation rates and maximum flexibility regarding feed materials with simple and robust design. The process involves the disintegration of the organic fractions, the utilisation of the energy generated, and, finally, the production of high-quality compost. The IuT Group holds the world-wide ADOS patent for anaerobic digestion of organic slurry.
The Energy Globe – the World Award for Sustainability – was created nine years ago. It is awarded to projects from all over the world that make careful and economical use of resources or employ alternative energy sources. The ENERGY GLOBE is presented as a regional award (example Austria: federal provinces), a national award (in about 70 countries), a continental award (e.g. Europe), and an international “World Award for Sustainability”.
